Since 1948, Jordan has hosted successive waves of refugees from neighboring states. the onset a new refugee crisis in 2011, evolution Jordan’s humanitarian assemblage provided opportunities for marked expansion, institutionalization, and globalization Islamic Christian humanitarianism within Jordan. The level international influence Jordanian government allowed during helped facilitate greater religious privacy local charitable actors to express their vision through work with refugees. regime responded by allowing, surveilling, sometimes seeking reshape such effervescence its own image. These dynamics cannot be understood purely history hosting but also as ongoing competition between other actors, particularly Islamists affiliated main opposition Muslim Brotherhood, over d?n al-millah, or everyday expression.
